About Us

Tenshon is a shade sail and shade canopy manufacturing company located in Phoenix, Arizona. We specialize in the design, engineering, and fabrication of shade sails, shade canopies, permanent shade umbrellas, shade sail structures, shade hip structures, and custom shade structures for outdoor applications, using HDPE (high-density polyethylene) shade fabrics and structural steel.

We currently provide installation support worldwide and our facility is set up to manufacture shade products just in time (JIT), which offers flexibility to our customers and allows for complete customization of our shade products.

Our shade sail and shade canopy products provide excellent pool shade, patio shade, garden shade and outdoor shade in general. Our skilled designers will artfully help you bring shade fabric to your own outdoor living space whether it is a sail or a canopy solution you seek. Our website is updated frequently with images and descriptions of shade sails, shade canopies, shade umbrellas and shade structures that we have manufactured or that other companies have manufactured, in order to provide the customer with a variety of examples and visible possibilities. We strive to make every project as fluid and seamless as it can be, from conceptualization to manufacturing to delivery.

Design

Every shade structure begins with a great idea. While in most cases one of our standard products will fit the shade need perfectly, for projects that require customization, Tenshon representatives work closely with our reseller and directly with the end user in many cases, to conceptualize and design the perfect shade sail or shade structure for your specific project.

If you live in an area in which Tenshon, or an authorized reseller is present, one of our representatives will meet you on-site for a free site survey and initial consultation. During this meeting we will determine what kind of structure you need, how the structure would best be placed within your project and discuss general design possibilities. In the case that we cannot meet you on site, we are also available to communicate via email, phone, fax or videoconference if that is what our clients require.

After the initial site survey, our design specialists will take your ideas and bring them to life. They will put together a production proposal that will show a rendering of your shade sail or structure and the terms of the manufacturing agreement, complete with price. This will roughly illustrate what the shade sail or shade structure will look like before purchase.

In most commercial applications, a bid process is explored by an authorized Tenshon Reseller or by Tenshon itself. At which time, Tenshon will first enter a quote with our renderings of the project to our reseller. When a bid is awarded, the client usually supplies the actual manufacturing agreement and our reseller will request manufacturing to begin. If Tenshon contracts directly with the end user the process will be similar, though without the involvement of one of our resellers. Finally, when required we can also provide detailed engineering services as part of the agreement for any of our shade structures when required. A deposit of 50% of the full contract price is required to begin work on your project.

Engineering

Engineering is an essential part of any project. Whether it is the initial engineering that goes into the development of our standard shade structures, or the specialized engineering associated with our custom structures. As a full service design-build company, Tenshon is able to be a part of as much or as little of your next shade structure project as needed. We are able to produce footing and structural details for all of our standard and custom projects for submission to municipalities, architects, general contractors, and even homeowners associations. Tenshon is further able to produce these engineering figures stamped and ready for submission to any municipality in the United States.

Manufacturing

At Tenshon, we employ the latest computer and sail making technology to ensure that all of our products are made at the highest quality possible. Fabrication timelines vary depending upon the type of sail or structure we are building. During the manufacturing stage, as every other stage, our Tenshon project managers will keep you informed of the progress we are making on your product.

In residential projects a 50% deposit is required to begin production. Immediately after a deposit is received, we will begin the fabrication of your shade sail, shade canopy or shade structure. If manufacturing is all that was contracted, shipping or pick-up will be arranged and final payment is due in order for Tenshon to release the goods, unless another arrangement has been contracted specifically.

With commercial projects the manufacturing terms and payment vary based on the specific project with which we are involved. Contact Tenshon with regard to your specific situation. However typically, manufacturing begins after the building permit is issued by the specific municipality within which the structure is ultimately being placed.

Install Support

While Tenshon only provides installation support for the projects it manufactures, our experienced network of resellers and installers are positioned to assist you with your onsite and installation needs. Please contact us to discuss your specific situation. In general, installation of a shade sail or shade structure can take anywhere from a few hours to multiple days or more. Many times installation requires drilling into building fascia, drilling into existing concrete slabs, or pouring new concrete footings to support the structure. Installation may also include machinery for mixing concrete, digging holes and generally performing the installation of your structure. This is an inconvenience that we cannot avoid. Most of our commercial clients are more than aware of this scenario. However, especially if you are placing this structure in a residential application, be sure to make your neighbors and/or customers aware of when the structure will be installed.

Other Services

We offer several other services to make our customer’s experience even better, and serve the specific needs of our clientele. For example, while we offer one of the most comprehensive warranties in the business, shade sails and shade structures can wear down over time. Components such as stitching, connection hardware and cables can fail over time. We offer maintenance contracts, above and beyond our warranties, to our customers who would like us to regularly maintain their sails.
